Let me introduce you to Billy Chung, owner of Exquisite Booths serving New York City. Billy has been a loyal customer since his business began over 13 years ago.

What's your story?  

My journey began as a DJ in 2003, when my brother and I started a company called ExquisiteNY. From the start, we were always thinking of innovative ways to enhance the experience—whether it was intelligent lighting, special effects, or premium sound systems. We weren’t just playing music; we were creating moments.

In 2013, our clients started asking for photo booths. At first, I brushed it off as a trend. But the demand kept growing, and I decided to dig deeper. That search led me to Steve Lynch of Atlanta Photo Booths. Steve and his wife were incredibly supportive, helping me understand how to deliver a premium photo booth experience. With my background in lighting and photography, I was able to offer standout photo quality that instantly set us apart.

What started as a bundle with DJ packages soon evolved into something much bigger. I realized photo booths had potential far beyond weddings. By 2015, I separated the businesses and launched Exquisite Booths. Right before 2020, I made the tough but exciting decision to retire from DJing and go all-in on photo booths. The business was growing rapidly, 30-40% year over year.

Then the pandemic hit. Events came to a halt. But as the world reopened, something unexpected happened; photo booth companies that had closed or relocated began calling me to cover their events. This led to consistent white label work, and in 2021, I hit six figures strictly through those partnerships.

Tell us about your business today.

Today, in 2025, Exquisite Booths operates as a hybrid: 60% white label, and 40% direct-to-client. We’ve become the go-to partner for many trusted brands, and I’m proud that they continue to choose us to represent them. Our difference lies in our experience, quality, and the relationships we’ve built. Clients love us because we make them look great—we’re reliable, elegant, and always focused on delivering a premium experience.

How has it been working with Imaging Spectrum and Darkroom Software?

I have been working with Imaging Spectrum since I bought my first photo booth.  Steve Behen and I have known each other for 13 years.  Imaging Spectrum remains to be my one stop shop for all my photo booth media needs. I use DNP DS620, RX1HS, DS40 printers.  

I love using Darkroom Software for my mirror booth events.  This is my go to software when it comes down to doing any high end elegant booth events.
