Saying Goodbye to the Sony DNP SnapLab

Updated, please read: Back by Popular Demand, SnapLab!

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to the SnapLab.

Sony DNP SnapLab UPCR10L SL10First introduced by Sony in 2006, the Snaplab was the first affordable yet professional stand-alone photo printing kiosk. With its large touchscreen and quick printing times, the Sony UPCR10L SnapLab was very user friendly. It had a built in media reader that accepted several types of memory cards, came with built-in templates and would even track  orders for commercial applications. Used for everything from event photography to sports to military photo operations and independent drug stores, the SnapLab was one of the most popular printers that we ever sold here at Imaging Spectrum. Shortly after Sony sold their commercial photo printer business to DNP in 2011, the trusty little SnapLab was re-introduced as the DNP SL10. It was the exact same printer with a DNP logo. By this time the SnapLab had plenty of competition from other manufacturers and pricing pressure from large retailers. Earlier this year, DNP pulled the plug on the SnapLab. We sold our last one a couple of weeks ago. Concerned about paper and ribbon for your SnapLab? Never fear, DNP has a large install base of SnapLabs and they have assured their customers that they will continue to manufacture media for the next couple of years. We have plenty of 2UPCC14 4×6, 2UPCC15 5×7 and 2UPCCPF 4×8. There is even a Tear & Share 4×8 media 2UPCC48TS.

510kLooking for a photo printer similar to the SnapLab? Check out these options:

The HiTi 510s Photo Kiosk – small and compact, the 510s is great for on-site events and mobile applications. The screen is pretty small and it’s not a touchscreen, but the printer travels well and is inexpensive.

The HiTi 510K Photo Kiosk – very comparable to the DNP SL10 SnapLab, the 510K incorporates a full size 10 inch touch screen, supports various memory card types, USB storage devices, and is Bluetooth compatible.
