New printer press releases from the manufacturers often sound the same, "New, Better, Faster, yada, yada, yada". I challenged our sales team to highlight for me what is new and/or better about the new Epson Stylus Pro Printers. Here is what they came up with in a short, easy to read bullet format...
Epson 4900, 7900, 9900 series highlights:
- 10 channel HDR (High Dynamic Range) ink system – includes the all new orange and green inks
- Improved black density
- Automatic black ink switching depending on profile – no more flushing machine/ wasting ink
- Can produce darkroom quality black/ white images from color or grayscale files w/out Photoshop conversion
- 3 black inks – black, light black, light light black
- Ink repelling nozzles to eliminate clogs
- Nozzle check can be set to run automatically or be turned off
- Nozzle verification uses less than 1 ml of ink
- Extremely fine blends/ transitions via Accuphoto HDR technology with 720/1440/2880 dpi
- New, extra precise variable dot size placement (dramatic improvement over previous models)
- Does not run cleaning cycle on powering up each time
- Auto paper switching mode from roll to sheet
- Roll remaining length counter and id/ barcode system
- Allows full bleed borderless printing with auto cut
- Super fast and whisper quiet
- Updated LCD display, “ink” button
- Inks: VIVID magentas. 200 ml in 4900 ONLY (T653...), 150 ml, 350 ml and 700 ml in 7900 and 9900 – can mix all three ink sizes (T642/ T596/ T636), 11 inks total
Epson 7890, 9890 series highlights:
- 8 channel ink system, VIVID magentas, 150, 350 and 700 ml– (T642/ T596/ T636) 9 inks total
- Printer recognizes and automatically switches between photo and matte black inks
- Faster than X800 series
- Roll remaining length counter and id/ barcode system
- Many of the same features as X900 but with only 8 colors
Epson 7880, 9880 series highlights:
- 8 channel ink system, VIVID magentas, (T602/ T603), 8 inks total
- Switch out black inks manually
- New drivers for Mac OS
- 3 black inks – black, light black, light light black
