DNP DS40 Offers Photobooth 2x6 Cuts
Posted by Eric Woodchek
It's official - DNP announced today that they are releasing a new firmware and driver to enable their flagship DS40 Photo Printer to cut 2x6 Photobooth strips. Due to the fact that a new "Cutter Guide" must be installed in the printer, this is an "upgrade service" provided by Imaging Spectrum.
ALL DS40 printers sold since August 1, 2012 from ISI have the proper Firmware and driver. Do NOT try updating the Firmware without checking the version first or you may erase the ability to cut 2-2x6.
According to DNP:
"The much anticipated driver and Firmware 1.40 release allows users to make two 2"x6" strips utilizing the 4"x6" media; or four 2"x6" strips utilizing the 6"x8" media pack. A separately purchased and professionally installed Cutter Guide must be utilized to enable this 2"x6" function. This part is necessary so that the 2"x6" cut is ejected from the printer correctly and to eliminate any potential cutter jams."
The upgrade service for the DNP DS40 is $65 and includes installation of the new Cutter Guide, Firmware Upgrade, and Return Ground Shipping (you must pay for shipping to us). To have your printer upgraded please contact ISI Technical Support Services at 800.342.9294 and ask for a printer repair form.
After the new guide and Firmware is installed, load the new 3.2 (or later) driver and set the driver to Enable the 2x6 cuts (as in the image below.)
