Decades in the Darkroom: Veterans of the Lab at Imaging Spectrum

You may know our products, but do you know our people?

Well, maybe you should! Because Imaging Spectrum has long been a quiet cornerstone of the photo lab and photo specialty industry, and while our rich history of support isn't always front and center, we think it's time to change that. Three members of our team bring a combined total of more than 60 years of hands-on experience with two of the most iconic names in imaging history — Kodak and FUJIFILM — and their technical knowledge, industry insight, and passion for the craft are what make Imaging Spectrum so much more than a supplier. We're a team of industry veterans who genuinely love what we do.

Jim Davis came to Imaging Spectrum with nearly four decades of professional imaging experience.  From an early start in traditional wet labs to over 15 years at kodak leading the US sales organization in the Kodak Professional Division to nearly ten years of professional studio ownership. Jim brings a seasoned understanding of professional imaging markets and the client relationships to match. As Vice President of Sales and Marketing, he leads with the same client-first approach that defined his Kodak career — translating deep industry knowledge into real value for the professionals he serves.

His product expertise and long-standing customer relationships continue to be a genuine asset to Imaging Spectrum's clients every day.

John Whitmore

John Whitmore
Technical Advisor & Chemical Consultant
Imaging Spectrum | 20+ Years · FUJIFILM

If there's one person who has seen it all in the world of imaging, it's John Whitmore — and that's not just a figure of speech. With a career spanning more than four decades, John's journey through the photography industry is as rich and layered as the craft itself.

John's roots in professional photography run deep. From 1984 to 1995, he owned and operated Issaquah Photo Lab in the Pacific Northwest, where he and a staff of five
handled a wide range of services — including custom enlarger and machine printing, C-41, E-6, and black-and white film processing, contact sheets, and custom printing. It was real, hands-on lab work, and John knew every inch of it. From there, he spent 15 years as a Technical Sales Representative for both Fuji Hunt Chemicals and FUJIFILM's Professional Imaging Division, building a territory that grew from the Pacific Northwest to cover much of California, the Rocky Mountain states, and the upper Midwest. Along the way, he developed a deep, institutional knowledge of photographic chemistry and large-format imaging systems that cannot be taught in a classroom. He followed that with another decade as a TSR and Account Executive with Diversified Imaging, Pakor, and Imaging
Spectrum.

Today, in what he calls his favorite role yet, John serves as Chemical Technical Support and
Technical Advisor at Imaging Spectrum — putting his decades of hard-won knowledge to work answering the questions that matter most, from film processing to RA-4 chemistry, one conversation at a time.

Away from work, John has settled happily into life in Gig Harbor, Washington. He skis, swims, hikes, and bikes — and when the mood strikes, he takes to the road in his beloved 1967 Sunbeam Alpine roadster, a car he bought at 18 and has never let go of. He travels internationally at least once or twice a year, with Europe calling his name as often as it can. We're proud to have John on our team — and even prouder to offer his expertise as a resource to you.

Together, John, Jim, and Steve represent something increasingly rare in today's imaging industry: a team with direct, firsthand experience at the companies that shaped modern photo and film development. Their collective backgrounds at FUJIFILM and Kodak bring an unmatched depth of knowledge to Imaging Spectrum — and a genuine passion for the craft that informs everything we do. When you work with Imaging Spectrum, you're working with professionals who have dedicated their careers to this industry and who bring that commitment to every client interaction.
