Some labs are built for a handful of orders a week. Richmond Pro Lab was built for volume—and built well. As one of the larger operations in the professional printing space, the company has made its name by proving that scale and craftsmanship aren't at odds: even at high volume, every order gets the same precision, consistency, and care. We sat down with Ginny Winston, Chief Business Development Officer, to find out how a lab in Richmond, VA grew into the kind of high-capacity partner photographers can count on, order after order.

What really makes you feel like you're doing something special?
When photographers realize they don't have to choose between price, quality, and service. We've built our business around offering consistently competitive pricing on the most in-demand products in the industry—without sacrificing craftsmanship or support. When clients tell us they can confidently sell premium products, stay profitable, and trust us to deliver on time no matter the season, that's when we know it's really working.
You really seem to have your finger on the pulse of your clients. Tell us more about your customer relations.
We see ourselves as an extension of the photographer's studio. From color management and file prep to product education and workflow tools, we work hard to understand how photographers shoot, sell, and serve their clients. By aligning our lab processes with real-world retail needs— turnaround time, consistency, presentation, and profitability—we help photographers move seamlessly from capture to final product.
We’ve all had to adapt & roll with the punches, (especially over the last 5-or-so years) …but you’ve seemed to flourish
One of the biggest challenges we've faced was navigating the uncertainty of the pandemic at the same time as a significant transition for our business. Just as volume photography drastically dipped, we were in the process of moving our lab into a new facility—at nearly double the size and outfitted with all new technology. Rebuilding our team, restructuring workflows, and scaling back up from that moment was no small feat, but we approached it with intention and long-term vision.
What's one thing you wish more people knew about your industry?
There's so much more behind a great print than meets the eye. From color science and material selection to skilled craftsmanship and quality control, professional labs blend art and technology every step of the way. What we do isn't just production, it's helping photographers protect their vision, their brand, and the value of printed work in a digital world.
That’s a great message for all of us. What’s next for your company in 2026?
We're incredibly excited about what's ahead in 2026, especially with the addition of our new flatbed UV printer. This investment has opened the door to a growing lineup of products—including yard signs, big heads, custom cutouts, phone grips, and affordably priced UV-printed plaques. What really sets us apart is how we're delivering these products: by offering one-off ship-to-home fulfillment for items like yard signs…we’re helping our customers significantly reduce labor, handling, and overall costs. It's all about creating new revenue opportunities while making workflows simpler and more efficient for photographers and studios.
