Express Digital recently released version 9 of Darkroom Core. Darkroom Core version 9 (retail $495) now has several features that were previously only available in the Professional version (retail $1,395). With the new version, Core now supports tethering directly to your camera and the ability to shoot greenscreen photos/borders. Core is now perfect for events where you want to shoot, review, and print all in the matter of a few seconds

Tethering
Most professional cameras are supported and you can trigger the camera from the computer (space bar/mouse) or with the camera’s shutter release. Is your camera supported? Here is the full list of supported hardware at ED’s website.
Greenscreen
Along with shooting directly to your computer, Core 9 now lets you use Express Digital’s renowned greenscreen technology for eye-popping borders and effects. Shoot your customers against a green screen and have Darkroom automatically replace the green with a custom made background and border (see above). Why give customers a print with a gray muslin background when they could be in front of Niagra Falls, the Grand Canyon, or “on the field” with their favorite team? Combine green screen with your customer’s logo and the event info, and you have an instant, valuable keepsake that they wouldn’t be able to get from anyone else.
Retouch Workshop
Core 9.0 also adds photo editing tools such as clone, colorize, red-eye, blur, and dodge. You can now make these edits right inside of Darkroom without having to open (or buy!) Photoshop. Did a stray prop or someone’s foot land in the corner of a picture? No worries, click the retouch button, clone it out, then print! You can also do quick touch-ups or enhancements on portraits that you can charge a “service fee” for. Just don’t let them know how easy it was !
Printing
Darkroom Core, like previous versions, does not have built-in printer drivers, but can use any printer that has a Windows print driver. If your printer shows up in Windows “Printers and Faxes” area it can be used in Core.  Core can print to up to four printers at one time. If you have more than four printers, if you need to use a printer that does not have Windows drivers (Noritsu printers for example), or if you need to “print” to JPG or TIF files (raster printer), you will need Darkroom Professional. Couple Darkroom Core with a high-speed Sony UPDR200 (4×6, 5×7) or Shinko S1245 (8×10) printer and you can go from shutter click to print before your customers finish writing the check!
