DNP announced today that they will no longer make media for the venerable photo printer made by Sony – the UPDR150. Superseded by the Sony UPDR200 and then the DNP DS40, the Sony UPDR150 has a reputation as a real workhorse – a little slow and heavy by today’s standards but a reliable workhorse. It has graced the pages Shutterbug magazine, the photo kiosks of Kinko’s all over the US and has been a regular at events, parties and malls with Santa Clause for years.
Unlike what you may have heard, read or seen on the web, there is no reason to panic if you still use this printer. While DNP is no longer making the media, the company still has quite a bit of inventory in their US warehouse. Additionally, here at Imaging Spectrum’s we are carrying a 2-3 month supply in our warehouse.
